The Italian American Club (IAC) at Medley began in July 2024 when Tony La Rosa and Joe Romano, two old-school Italian guys inspired by the strong sense of community they experienced growing up in New Jersey and New York, envisioned bringing together 20 to 25 Medley families.

Within months, that vision grew to more than 100 families. Hurricane Helene helped define the IAC’s commitment to helping those in need when members rallied to support a local single mother who lost everything in the storm.
The club soon expanded its outreach to families throughout San Antonio and the surrounding community through food and clothing drives and support for local schools and organizations.
By November, Donna Massoud, Mike Peranio, and Larry Peters joined Tony and Joe to form the IAC Board of Directors, and in April 2025, the IAC was formally established as a 501(c)(7) nonprofit social organization.
Today, the IAC is Medley’s largest and most active club, combining fellowship and community events with a strong commitment to charitable giving. With the generous support of Medley residents, the club has raised thousands of dollars for organizations including San Antonio Elementary School, Vets Feeding Vets, St. Anthony of Padua Food Pantry, Honor Flight of West Central Florida, blood drives, and Tunnel to Towers. Signature events such as the Oktoberfest Golf Cart Run, Annual Dinner, and Grill and Chill Give-Back Party have brought hundreds of residents together while supporting these efforts. As the IAC continues to grow, it remains committed to its founding purpose: providing a welcoming social environment that celebrates Italian-American heritage, fosters fellowship, and raises funds to support those in need throughout San Antonio and the surrounding communities.
